Before CGI (computer generated imagery} there was something called stunts. Explosions were real, car crashes were real, and action sequences were almost believable. First Blood is a realistic simple story that introduces you to John Rambo’s world. This is an adventure of a movie and I can see why it started a franchise. Too bad the other movies were just about gore, body counts, and explosions. First Blood is a classic action movie not to be missed.

300 is action packed, original, and beautifully filmed. This graphic novel turn movie has been copied many times do to its gorgeous action sequences, style and cinematography.

Admiral

(2015) When the young republic of The Netherlands is attacked by England, France and Germany and the country itself is on the brink of civil war, only one man can lead the county’s strongest weapon, the Dutch fleet: Michiel de Ruyter.

Admiral is based on a true story of one of the greatest Admirals in naval history. This is a great ride filled with rich history,  swashbuckling and the best naval war scenes I’ve seen in a while. I highly recommend this flick if not only because this battle was where the navy seals were invented and made their first appearance.

The Usual Suspects

(1995) A boat has been destroyed, criminals are dead, and the key to this mystery lies with the only survivor and his twisted, convoluted story beginning with five career crooks in a seemingly random police lineup.

The Usual Suspects is one of the greatest crime thrillers ever made.  The all star cast manipulate their way through a very entertaining complex screenplay that ultimately leaves you asking the big question, “Who is Keyser Soze?”

Black Hawk down is a heroic yet disastrous true story. This is not a thoughtless bland action blockbuster, Black Hawk Down has a stellar cast portraying memorable characters with a precise tactical narrative. Riddley Scott deliver high intensity with a lot of heart.
